What Happens at Your First Window or Door Appointment with Energy Swing?

March 31, 2025

If you’re scheduling your first consultation for new windows or doors, you probably have some questions. What will happen? Who should be at the appointment? How do I prepare for it?

At Energy Swing, we’ve helped homeowners all across the Greater Pittsburgh area navigate their window and door replacement projects to make sure they go as smooth and stress-free as possible. Having a successful first appointment is an important part of the process.

In this article, we will walk you through exactly what you can expect, who should be at the appointment, and how to ensure the meeting is productive, so there are no surprises.

Why is the First Appointment Important?

Your first appointment with Energy Swing sets the stage for a smooth, stress-free project.

Here’s what we’ll cover during our visit:

  • Take a close look at your windows or doors to spot any issues, even ones that aren’t obvious
  • Snap photos, record videos, and measure everything carefully so we can create a custom plan
  • Talk through your goals and recommend the best product options for your home
  • Share how our process works and what makes working with Energy Swing different

This first visit lays the groundwork for a smooth project. The more we learn during this step, the better we can plan, and the fewer surprises you’ll run into later.

Our sales consultant made a thorough presentation, was professional and provided outstanding customer service. He did an excellent job following up and returning phone calls. He accommodated any changes or additions in a timely manner. They provided great customer service. We love our new windows and doors. Definitely a 5 star experience!

Who Should Be at the Appointment (and Why It Helps)?

To make the most of your first visit, it’s helpful to have anyone there who’ll be interacting with the product.

That might include:

  • Homeowners: If you're helping choose the style, budget, or timeline, you’ll want to be part of the conversation.
  • Spouses/Partners: Being on the same page about how things should look and work can help avoid delays later.
  • Trusted Friends or Family: If you’re making the decisions solo, it can be helpful to have someone you trust there to offer a second opinion.
  • Anyone Involved in the Budget: If someone else is helping with financing or payment decisions, it’s great to include them in the conversation early on.

Having the right people there means we can answer everyone’s questions, talk through ideas together, and keep the project moving forward smoothly.

What We’ll Cover During Your Consultation

Your appointment usually takes about an hour and a half, sometimes a little more. We’ll always respect your time, but we also want to make sure we cover everything you need for a successful project.

Here's what we'll walk through together:

  • Your Project Goals: What are you hoping to achieve? We’ll talk through your needs, style preferences, and any must-haves.
  • Any Issues We Spot: We’ll go over concerns you’ve shared and point out anything else we notice during the visit.
  • Budget & Financing: We’ll break down costs, payment plans, and financing options to fit your comfort zone. If you’d like to get a head start, check out our guide on financing options to match your budget.
  • Installation & Timeline: From final measurements to the day of install, we’ll walk you through what to expect every step of the way.
  • Maintenance Tips: We’ll explain how to care for your new windows or doors to keep them looking and working their best. And don’t worry, our installers will remind you of all this on install day, too.
  • Warranties & Support: You’ll learn all about our Triple Lifetime Warranty and what it covers. If something ever comes up, our service team is here to help.

How to Get Ready for Your Appointment

You don’t need to do much to prepare, but a few small things can help us make the most of our time together:

  • Know Your Budget Range: If you haven’t already, check out our pricing tools to get a feel for what your project might cost. That way, we can focus on finding the right solutions for your home—not just talking numbers.
  • Clear the Way: Make sure we can easily access the windows or doors you’re thinking of replacing.
  • Bring Your Inspiration: Have a Pinterest board? Screenshots of styles you love? Feel free to share!
  • Think Big Picture: Beyond cost and timing, think about:
      • What problems are you hoping to solve?
      • What kind of look and feel do you want?

      • What kind of service experience matters most to you?

  • Jot Down Questions: Anything you’re unsure about, process, materials, warranties, write it down. We’re happy to walk you through it.

What Happens After the First Appointment?

Once we’ve gathered all the details during your consultation, here’s what you can expect next:

  • Proposal Review: You’ll receive a written, detailed proposal in a binder that outlines every part of your project. This includes important info like our Certificate of Insurance so you know you're covered.
  • Decision-Making: When you’re ready to move forward, we’ll finalize all your selections and prepare a digital agreement. Both you and your consultant will sign it, and you’ll get a copy for your records.
  • Design Center Visit (Optional): Not sure about colors or styles yet? You’re welcome to visit our Design Center for a hands-on look at samples and finishes.
  • Final Measurement: Before we order your materials, our Measure Specialist will schedule a visit to take precise measurements and confirm every last detail. This helps ensure everything is built and installed just right.
  • Production Handoff: Once your selections are locked in, our production team gets to work. From manufacturing to scheduling, we keep things moving, and you’ll hear from us along the way. You’ll be supported by our whole team, from your Client Consultant to the Production Manager and our in-house installers.

  • Pre-Installation Checklist: Before installation day, we’ll send you a quick checklist so you know how to prepare. This includes clearing the work area, keeping pets and kids safe, and picking a time that works for you.

Your first appointment with Energy Swing is all about keeping things simple, helpful, and tailored to you.
